Afterwards I found walking difficult and was not using my wrist due to the pain. The hospital suggested surgery but I decided to find myself a personal trainer to help me. Working away from home there is always a reason for me not to go to gym, but by making an appointment, I make the effort. It is 8 weeks since I launched into physical training with Rob's guidance as to what would help me. Not only do I look and feel fitter, I also find it easier to walk and pick up things with my left hand without pain, Wonderful!

Dan looked strong for his body weight and I thought with some tweaking he could become competitive within powerlifting.

He thought this was a good idea, as he was enjoying his squats bench press and deadlifts, so I changed his weight training program from three sets of eight repetitions to five sets of five.

This move from size and strength training would encourage large increases in strength while keeping size and body weight stable to stay in his weight category. We concentrated on low reps and high sets to increase strength within squats, bench press and deadlifts.

Various shoulder, back, trapezius and arm exercises were used to gain strength within muscles to assist the three main lifts. Strict technique was essential and one max rep training methods were used for motivation and to measure strength gains.

When I started training I felt slightly intimidated using free weights which are mainly used by guys with much higher levels of fitness then me. But training with Rob has given me new levels of strength, technique and has boosted my confidence. I now no longer feel intimidated by fitter and stronger looking people and now love the free weights. Believe me you can achieve a lot with just 6 sessions.

He'd use any trick to get me doing what I had to do. Which I personally believe is one of his key strategies in getting the results I got.

Robert not only advised me on my technique, he also incorporated assisted stretching, cardio work and kept a beady eye on my nutritional needs. He was also very supportive and most importantly knew when to back off.

I can only hope to continue what he has taught me but I know it will be very hard to do without him telling me I can. We all know more or less what to do but I think sometimes we need someone like Robert to discipline us into doing what is right for our bodies, he is the expert after all and he has many tricks that would take us years to learn.

I joined Bannatyne's Health club in August 2006, and I was keen to find a suitable personal trainer. I had been watching Robert Chaunt for a month or so with another gym member, I liked the way Robert trained her, as he seemed very patient and very motivating.

I started to have sessions with Robert in November 2006, in total I had 12 sessions. Throughout my sessions with him, he really concentrated fully to my time, and was very motivating and encouraging. He also looked at what I wanted to achieve and worked out a program for me. Robert was excellent in giving me advise and I saw the benefits of training with him.

I felt sad to hear of Robert leaving Bannatynes, as I will miss his pleasant, enthusiastic, and motivating way of training. I'm sure Robert will be an asset to any Healthclub that employs him.

I gained 2 stone in 9 months and see dramatic gains in strength. Rob is a top trainer and i am now twice as confident and love my workout routine.

In the begining Rob put me on a high protein and carb diet, including a combination of shakes and high protein foods. He took me to the nutrition shop and told me which protein /carb shakes to buy.

A few months later we changed from a high protein /carb diet to a high protein diet so we could start toning while maintaining existing strength. He also illustrated the importance of suppliments e.g. creatine to help boost my results.

Back in November I saw a picture of myself from the October festival, It shocked me. I had tried to lose weight on my own before with little sucess.

I joined Fitness First and decided to get Rob as my personal trainer. With Rob's help I have seen the most amazing transformation and have really got into my weights. My strength gains have been huge. At the begining of each sesion he asked me what I had eaten that day and suggested alternatives, he really kept me in check.

Dan is a perfect example of what you can achieve with the right advice and attitude. He is a model client, weight training with me consistently for 2hrs a week, doing his own cardio every week and eating exactly what I tell him. He achieved his amazing weight loss and toning with a high protein, low carb, low fat and low sugar diet.

Eating little and often, with a carby breakfast, protein through out the day and no carbs after 6pm. A varied weight training programme was vital for his dramatic increases in strength, muscle mass and tone.

Rosie

She originally came to me for weight loss and muscle tone but I showed her that training with heavy free weights and low reps could not only dramatically increase here strength and tone but significantly keep her weight down.

She came to me at 63kgs and now competes at under 58kgs. This sustained weight loss was down to weight training alone and not using cardiovascular work outs.

I hope this dispels the myth to all women, and men, that weight training, used in a certain way, will not make you big and will result in sustained weight loss and muscle tone.

Rob put me on a high calorie diet and we trained hard with free weights. I love my new size and the compliments I now receive! I never thought it possible.

I never thought that I would be able to put on weight having had little sucess on my own. Rob showed me, however that anyone could put weight on, it was all to do with eating more calories than you burn off during the day.

He changed my diet which included high carb and protein supplement shakes. Before long I was consuming 3500 to 4000 calories a day, which I didn't think possible.

With this new diet, combined with four free weight training sessions a week, which split up different muscle groups onto different days, I have acheived my desired body weigh and shape.

I am now squatting 170kg and deadlifting 200kg how cool is that!

Rob told me how important weight training was in a weight loss programme which was great because although I wanted to lose weight, I wanted to be strong with a good physique as well.

He stressed the importance of a healthy, balanced diet and talked through what I should be eating daily. He was also concious about my previous sporting injuries and chose exercises that strengthened and didn't aggrevate them.

Marcela. A great example of fat loss and increased muscle tone and strength.

Due to the Marcela's caesarean the complexity and intensity of the work outs had to be adapted to her current health and physical ability. Now, nine months on we are completing a full intense free and free body work out including power lifting which has helped her lose over a stone in under nine months achieve these amazing results.
